Day 26 - 10,500

This article writing business has a great deal to do with fortitude. I been on a prolonged Christmas break where I have written almost nothing. I have found the most of my writing happens when I am living in my normal working schedule where I wake up at 6 A.M. and start writing when I get home from work. I understand the power of the momentum that my day job establishes. It's interesting.

Day 25 - 10,300

It's day 25. I am currently working with my brother Kevin Kautzman (www.kevinkautzman.com) to create www.kellenkautzman.com Sweet, eh? More on that later!

Day 24 - 10,001

It is 12:25 P.M. and I want you to decide my next article for me! I need help! I want to get to 1,000,000 hits and this will be done through writing what you want to hear!

Please leave articles ideas in the comment section below and I will write these articles, for free!

Day 23-27 - 9,989

I took an extensive Christmas break, which I needed, and did not crack my laptop. This makes me a winner because I needed to unhook. Yes, my adoring fans, I needed to hide away, like many celebrities do, from the hordes of fanatics chasing me and taking my picture. It truly is a sad day when an almost impossibly famous star, such as myself, can't even by some Ramon noodles without being accosted by a throng of fans who just can't get enough of my delicious writing skillz.

Happy holidays everybody!

Day 22 - 9,108

It's the Christmas season and my Christmas articles are taking off. For the upcoming Christmas season I think I will write as many articles as my brain and fingers can handle because Christmas = money. WWJD? He'd probably write about stocking stuffers if he was short on cash and needed to pay rent.

Day 20 - 8,870

I am exhausted. I have hit my first writer's block. Ergh. I feel like my fingers are made out of mush. I got 250 some views today. I know that my hits are going to fall back soon due to the Christmas season ending. The articles that I write about wisdom and getting through tough times get 1/1oo of the views that my articles about Tiger Woods' alleged affairs' get. Kinda sad.

Day 19 - 8.570

I published four articles a day and am very proud of myself. I am also promoting my articles on www.digg.com. I have yet to get more than 2 Diggs for any of my content. Ha ha. Hopefully I'll learn better ways to get more Diggs. Let me know if any of you Digg savvy folks can help me market? I am open to suggestions.

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Day 18 - 8,370

I calculated that having written 50 articles I am averaging 30 cents a day. Sounds sad doesn't it? This means that if I write 1o,000 articles I will make, approximately, $60 a day. That is a lot of writing for $60 a day. But then again I am known for being kinda nuts.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Day 17 - 8,170

Today I enjoy writing about becoming a rock star and how most musicians hate marketing. Sadly it is what they need to succeed in this good ol' capitalist culture we've got going on here. I broke the 8,000 mark and I am on my way towards 10,000. My fingers are feeling the burn. It feels good.

Day 16 - 7,665

We went to the Zoo today. So I wrote about going to the zoo with my classroom. I am averaging about 200 views and day. I have five articles submitted. IMPORTANT: I wrote a humor piece about how Santa is a communist and I did not receive upfront payment. Associated Content doesn't pay for humor pieces that they think, "will not go viral". This is a kind way of them saying..."isn't funny" ha ha ha.

Day 15 - 7,465

There is another AC contributor who has gained half a million views with 71 aticles. That puts my 48 articles and 7,465 views in the "novice" category... bummer!

Sunday, December 13, 2009

Day 14 - 7,238

Oh sweet views. It looks like getting a million views is a lot like getting a million dollars. It's really easy! Ah, ha ha ha. No. It's not. But for those of you who are relentless let me share with you what I have learned so far. My fingers hurt. I wrack my brain every day for ideas that I can write about and after all is said and done I actually really like publishing. Who knew? At this rate I'll have a million views by the time I'm one hundred. It's a good thing I plan on living for a while.

As a side note my fiancee and I thought about moving to France today. Then we realized how much paper work and bureaucracy we'd have to traverse to get there. We're still holding the option open for debate. France = stable temperatures and crepes.

Day 13 - 7,058

I have started to write more lengthy articles. They have been roughly 700 - 800 words. I will let you know if AC pays more for these articles than they would for an article that has 400-500 words.
Typically my writing has been in the 400-500 word range thus far.

To date my top articles are:

Day 12 - 6,971

I wrote a very bizarre article about how Santa is the ringleader in a massive communist plot funded by elf designed software. It's my attempt at humor. We'll see how that turns out...won't we.

Day 11 - 6.811

I wrote two more articles today. One is about what you should get your husband for Christmas. The other is about creating a successful blog, which I apparently don't know too much about given the fact that I have received only 80 views so far to this blog. I remain courageous in much search for 1,000,000 article views. 6, 579 is not bad. Especially for Day 11. Again most of the content that has generated me the most views has come from Google Trends where I write about whatever is the most popular news story of the day.

Keep on publishing people!

Day 10 - 6,579

There has been giant snow flow in the Minnesota area. Hence I wrote an article about snow plowing in Saint Paul. I am interested in seeing if local articles generate more buzz then national articles. Sounds counter-intuitive to me. We'll see, won't we?

Day 9 - 6,211

Has it been nine days already? What a trip. I purchased the Star Wars Force Trainer a week ago and it came in the mail today. I wrote about this product last week. I am wearing it and typing at the same time to see if I can keep the ball floating in air as I type articles. So far I am failing at multitasking. Wait, I think that this sentence I've got it. Sweet. Now I am not sure what to write about because I am spending a lot of energy concentrating on keeping the ball in the Star Wars Force Trainer up. Yoda just told me "Improving you are. Strong you are with the force." If you haven't purchased this already you should really give it a whirl. It's really fun.

Day 8 - 6.000

I wrote again today. I wrote about teaching. People will look back one day on this blog as a way of understanding me. They will judge both my writing, my character, and my culture because of the words I've left here. To those of you who think that life was simpler here, I'm sorry. Life is complicated, filled with unexpected twists and trials. Life is a hard stone being weathered by a slow stream. Life is not easy. For the generations to come, think on how difficult your lives are and please notice that they are a little easier because of the work that my generation has offered. Thanks go out to the generation above mine. You've fought hard through decades of uncertainty, times of struggle, and wars without reason. It's time to move on.

Day 7 - 5,106

I got three articles down the hatch today! I sat around most of today writing. I discovered BrightHubs and Demand studios. It looks like they are going to pay $10 -$15 per article, possibly more. I broke the 5,000 mark today!

Day 6 - 4,885

I've been booted! AC, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to suspend my account because "As a precautionary measure against fraud, our system automatically scans our site for multiple accounts that have been connected and automatically suspends the account until a W-9 is received to verify the identity of the contributor. We apologize for the inconvenience. " Oh how cranky I was. The first E-mail they sent sounded a lot scarier.

That'll freak you out! I have spend too much time writing these articles to be shut down that easily. Forget that. Good thing I checked my stats today before I got suspended.

Survey: Do masters degrees make teachers better educators?

Day 5 - 4,652 views

It looks like I am making some headway. Apparently it's easier than I thought to get 1,000,000 views. At this rate, averaging 300 views a day, I'll be a page view millionaire in 9.08 years. Is nine years worth it? I think so.

I'll see you in nine years. 4 and a half if I learn how to market this thing twice as well as I currently do. 1 year if I get really lucky.

I got more published today.

100 toys for $10 at Walmart

and

Tiger woods and his alleged affair

Enjoy!

Also I wrote 5 articles today that are coming down the AC pipeline. Aren't you proud of me?

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Day 4 - 3,898 views

My tiger woods article got 700 hits today. So I decided to write another one that is still waiting to be submitted. This is irritating. There is a turn around time that is beginning to bug me. For example, Google Trends #1 trend is Tiger Woods' affair. Tomorrow I highly doubt that it will still be his affair. I wrote an article about Tiger Woods' affair that won't make it onto the internet until tomorrow. I am missing out on thousands of hits so that my editor can read other people's story first. Grrrr...
